秀宗刀匠は、本名を松原龍平といい昭和５年に長野県で生まれました。松原兼吉刀匠の子で十三代川島正秀刀匠と中田兼秀刀匠の門人となり作刀を学びます。岐阜県関市関口町に住し、全日本刀匠会会員新作名刀展にて太刀・刀・脇差・薙刀・槍の部で連続入選を果たし名工として名を連ねます。刻銘は、濃州秀宗作、松原龍平秀宗、などです。
